It's recommended that you use hulled or peeled oats for flaking, as the germ in full grain oats is prone to damage. This decreases its nutritional value and causes the oats to become bitter. Fresh rolled oats should be consumed immediately, since the oats' higher oil content may cause them to become bitter over time.
The FlicFloc can also flake wheat, barley or rye, though these should be soaked in water for about 4 hours after flaking to ease the digestion of natural minerals in the grain. Oat flakes are easier to digest and do not need soaking. The KoMo Flicfloc flakes oats, wheat, rye, millet, buckwheat, spelt, barley, sesame, rye, poppy seeds and flax seeds. It can also crush spices like fennel, caraway and even whole peppercorns.
